Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals communicate, interact with others, process information, and experience the world around them. Because autism is a spectrum, every individual is unique, with their own strengths, interests, abilities, and support needs.
Many autistic individuals demonstrate exceptional talents, unique ways of thinking, and valuable perspectives. At the same time, some may benefit from additional support in developing communication, social, adaptive, behavioral, and daily living skills that promote greater independence and an improved quality of life.
Every child is different, and no two individuals with autism will present in exactly the same way.
Common Characteristics of Autism
Social Communication & Interaction
Some children may experience differences in:
- Social communication and conversational skills
- Eye contact and nonverbal communication
- Understanding social cues and body language
- Developing and maintaining friendships
- Responding to their name or other social interactions
- Sharing interests, emotions, or experiences with others
Restricted or Repetitive Behaviors
Some children may also demonstrate:
- Repetitive movements or vocalizations
- Preference for routines and predictability
- Strong interests in specific topics or activities
- Differences in sensory processing, including increased or decreased sensitivity to sounds, textures, lights, smells, or movement
- Repetitive play patterns or behaviors
Because autism presents differently in every individual, these characteristics vary significantly from person to person.

We understand that meaningful progress occurs when children feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn. That is why our clinical philosophy incorporates evidence-based ABA practices alongside trauma-informed care, assent-based treatment, positive behavior support, and strong family collaboration.
Our programs focus on teaching meaningful skills that improve everyday life, including:
